French Diary

Just for my own benefit I want to record a few things during our French trip. I am taking the Z6 ii and the 24-200 lens. All good. Just getting a few things ready and we leave on Friday. It appears as it always seems to that the amount of things to do is mounting and filling up any spare time before we leave.

Nearly ready . Chair in the car . still need to get hold of some spare inner tubes due to puncture nightmare over the last few days. i am getting very good at changing inner tubes now.

No Internet for a few days . We are here . The Flexipass for the chunnel worked well, also the tag for the peage very good. Stayed at a hotel in Tours which was nice but we weren’t able to do much because Fran’s broken leg so we stayed just one night and got down to the cottage. Very nice , however no tv and internet not good. Saw our friends today and we are going to their place for drinks on Tuesday.

Scooted into the town today and got croissants and baguettes. Nice little town with a square. It has a bridge over a river. Restaurants etc. Bright sunny but cool and fresh morning. Great coffee at a small cafe on the square. I ended up chatting to the owner who asked “What happened to me ?” I told her about the MS .Her mother had MS and apparently died of it. MS is not a fatal disease but I guess she may have had some complications. It’s strange how many people I meet who have a friend or relative with MS. Any way we chatted about other things. There are a lot of English people living in the area. Now nicknamed Dordogne-shire. Everyone seems to get on rather well . She said it’s good that the English are there to keep the cafes and restaurants open.

We went to our friends’ place a couple of times . Really nice.

Hopefully I will go back next year . I will have to plan the route better. Sat Nav took us on a little adventure down very small roads a couple of times. I will also avoid the really hot times – July and August . I can’t take 40 degrees anymore – MS is a big problem when you overheat.
